It can't be denied that celebrities are impulsive. It seems like every other day someone's getting married, divorced or, more recently, a tattoo. And often, their inclination to get inked ends in disaster-like a spelling mistake heard around the world or a permanent reminder of a failed relationship. Check out the most lamentable of the bunch below.
1 Britney Spears
In May 2004, Britney Spears marked her wrist with a pink dice tattoo to match then-beau Kevin Federline's dice tat. According to VanishingTattoo.com, "As tattoo designs, dice are a metaphor for life…Perhaps Spears saw her relationship with K-Fed as a chance she was willing to take." Soon after, the two got engaged, married in September 2004 and divorced in 2007.
2 Stephen Baldwin
Tween sensation Miley Cyrus and actor Stephen Baldwin bumped into each other at the White House in 2007, where Cyrus promised Baldwin a guest spot on her show Hannah Montana in exchange for an inked tribute to her. Baldwin kept up his end of the deal, tattooing "H.M." on his left shoulder, but so far, Cyrus hasn't held up her end of the oral agreement.
3 Steve-O
Stephen Gilchrist Glover, otherwise known as Steve-O of Jackass fame, is covered in tattoos, including a portrait of himself giving two thumbs up, which takes up nearly his entire back. Just underneath it is an inscription that says, "Yeah dude, I rock!" and his autograph.
4 Dean McDermott
Canadian actor Dean McDermott is best known for being Tori Spelling's husband-and his ode-to-Tori tattoos, including his most recent: "A large Koi fish symbolizing Tori, a tiger representing Dean and three baby Koi fish for Liam, 2, Stella, 11 months, and (McDermott's son from a previous marriage) Jack, 10," according to People.com. McDermott said of it: "I did it to profess my undying love for my gorgeous wife and beautiful children … She loved it when I revealed it to her. She thinks it's beautiful, chic and sexy," according to Zombio.com.
5 Kate Gosselin
In early 2009, the mother of eight stepped out to run a few errands and gave waiting paparazzi a chance to identify the tattoo on her ankle, which, in the past, was always covered. Anticlimactically, after a whole lot of zooming in, they discovered that her tattoo was nothing more than a small picture of Winnie the Pooh doing his usual thing: eating honey and pawing at a passing bee.
6 Hayden Panettiere
The Heroes star got the Italian saying "Vivere senza rimpianti" ("Live without regret") tattooed on her back-or so she thought. Unfortunately, after the ink set in, she found out "rimpianti" was misspelled. In July 2009, when asked on Late Show with David Letterman what her reaction to the news was, Panetierre said, "I laughed, and everyone else around me laughed at me, but it was absolutely my fault."
